    Hi everyone,

After observing some of the recent exchanges on the list (which
include chat room like one-liners and impolite language--both of
which are discouraged) and some spam, and considering problems that
we have had in the past, I am thinking of changing the list to a
loosely moderated format. All messages will be approved by the
moderator (who will read them loosely).

Please let me know, preferably off-list, your thoughts about this
change. In the past many have suggested that we have a moderated
group, but I have resisted due to the hassles and the optimistic
belief that group participants could police themselves. The latter
does not appear to be the case. Also, our spam filters do not seem to
    be catching everything.

    TG
