I have seen an argument that when Jesus spoke of "other sheepfolds" he
might have been referring to entities outside earth, but that argument
always seemed to be a stretch.

I also (obviously) don't think it is necessary (or even very smart) to go
out on a limb and insist on extraterrestrial life, or the absence of
such.

I do think it is a virtual certainty that at some point SETI or a like
research programme will conclude that extraterrestrial life does exist
(it may be a false positive, of course). At that point Ross will find
himself in arguments he really does not want to pursue.
