The last mailing from Reasons to Believe (V8, #1) makes the flat
assertion that life on earth is unique; there is no extraterrestrial life
ANYWHERE in the universe (odds of 1 in 10**217) and that life on Mars
WILL be discovered ("not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN"), and
shown to have originated from the hundred millions of earth material
transported to Mars as a result of asteroid and comet collisions.
This mailing also incudes information on Biola University's new MA
Program in Science and Religion and their upcoming conference on
"Intelligent Design and the Future of Science." On the program are the
usual suspects, Dembski, Johnson, Schaefer, Behe, Moreland, etc. and
their usual opponents Provine, Ruse etc.
I saw no speakers such as Polkinghorne, Van Till, Murphy, etc. But,
again, I expected none, as I am convinced these guys all think only in
binary terms. Lee Strobel, who is notorious for his highly skewed book
THE CASE FOR CHRIST, will be there; also Jerry Bergman, Nancy Pearcey,
Paul Nelson, Fred Heeren, many others.
I respect Ross, but how will his ministry fare when (not if)
extraterrestrial life is actually encountered?
