There have been several responses (some off line) to my question about
Enoch and whether any writer prior to the writer of Hebrews ever
considered that Enoch may not have died a natural death but have been
taken immediately into God's presence.
Unless I miss the meaning of one or more of these, I conclude that the
thesis (the writer of Hebrews is the first to conclude that Enoch was
translated) has not been disproven.
I don't see anything in particular "riding" on this thesis; it was
suggested to me by a pastor considerably more "conservative" than I
happen to be as an interesting fact in a study of Hebrews just concluded.
