Good points, George (and yes, I know the Bible doesn't mention any
specific fruit). I think it's a case of Paul thinking and writing in a
patriarchal framework. Adam was the man, therefore he was the head of
the household (albeit God didn't place Adam over Eve until after they
sinned) and should have 1) Told Eve about the prohibition on eating the
fruit (from the text either he did or God did), and 2) Prevented Eve
from sinning (BTW, has anyone ever wondered _where_ Adam was while Eve
was talking with the serpent?).
