My understanding is that the command was given to Adam. Eve was under his
authority. Although Eve was tempted, it was Adam who sinned. Note that
God speaks to the one in authority. Adam tries to shift the
responsibility, and even tries to implicate God in the process. It's a
wonderful example of a typical human response.
