Jim,
You wrote: you have not provided a whit of backup for your "clear" (you
really like to use that word, don't you?) pronouncements. ... Where is your
chronological dating, WITH BACKUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can provide strong historical and scriptural "backup" for all of my
understandings. But providing it all to you at once would be more than you
could digest at one time.
Your statement that I "have not provided a whit of backup" leaves me
wondering about your reading comprehension skills. For I already provided you
with both strong historical and scriptural backup for my understanding that
the 430 years of Ex. 12:40 began when God made his covenant with Abraham at
the time he first entered Canaan and that they ended when God gave Israel the
Law at the time of the Exodus.
As I have already pointed out, the historical evidence of this is that the
writers of both the SP and the LXX added the words "and Canaan" to Ex. 12:40,
showing that this was the standard understanding of Bible chronology held by
the Jewish people in ancient times. The scriptural evidence of this is the
exact wording of the MT which allows for this understanding and, primarily,
the fact that the inspired Bible writer the apostle Paul showed that this is
the way he himself understood the chronological information contained in Ex.
12:40 by what he wrote about the "430 years" in Gal. 3:16,17. Paul's own
written words about the "430 years" of Ex. 12:40 agree with my understanding
and show yours to be incorrect. Have you even read Gal. 3:16,17? Since you
have failed to deal with this strong "backup" that I have already presented,
and have then had the nerve to tell me that I have not provided "one whit" of
"backup" for my understandings, why should I now provide you with more for
you to treat in the same manner?
If you are not able to understand the "430 years" of Ex. 12:40 and Gal.
3:16,17, which is a relatively simple matter, I highly doubt you will be able
to handle the "390" years of Ezek. 4:1-5 which is a more complex matter. In
this area of Bible study (Bible chronology), as in most, a person must be
able to digest milk before there is any point in feeding them meat. If you
can explain Paul's words in Gal. 3:16,17 to me, and can explain how they do
not contradict your present understanding of Ex. 12:40, and you can do so in
a reasonable and respectful way, I will gladly help you understand other more
difficult passages of scripture which you admit you now have little or no
understanding of.
Mike
