RE: The Curse - Upon All Creation or Just Mankind?

Hello Michael,

You asked: "Are you also saying that there was no "cold and heat, summer and
winter , day and night " before the Flood?"

I was not even saying that there was not necessarily "seed time and harvest"
prior to the Flood. I clearly said that "Adam and Eve would have eaten
fruits and vegetables, and therefore harvested, prior to the fall.
Scripture also clearly indicates that there was day and night from the very
beginning. There are some who advocate that seasons, as we know them, did
not exist prior to the Flood. These individuals propose that the entire
antediluvian earth experienced tropical weather conditions year round.
However, I have never read anything in the Word that would either support or
oppose this supposition.

You also asked: "Who made up this idea of animal life (but not insects)
being nephesh. This is wonderful eisegesis!"

I was making a distinction between animal life and plant life. It seems I
have read somewhere an argument that insects would not be considered
nephesh, but I'm not entirely sure I would agree. Perhaps you recently read
the same or a similar source and have mistakenly attributed it to me?

In Christ,

Mike

Hello Sheila,

The promise of seed time and harvest given in Genesis 8:22 was not only
after the fall, but after the flood. I would interpret that passage to say
that seed time and harvest will never cease as long as the earth endures
from this time forward.

MBR

Are you also saying that there was no "cold and heat, summer and winter ,
day and night " before the Flood?

However, Adam and Eve would have eaten fruits and vegetables, and therefore
harvested, prior to the fall. So there is no question that plant life died
before the fall. But the Bible makes a distinction between plant life and
animal life. It was animal life, or nephesh, to which I was referring.

MBR Who made up this idea of animal life (but not insects) being nephesh.
This is wonderful eisegesis!
