Although it is true that the frost line in Florida has moved south in
historic times, it is a local effect of human habitat modification.
The high heat capacity of water makes it a major buffer in local to
regional climate. The large-scale draining of Florida swamps and
marshes has made it easier to sell real estate, but also easier to get
below freezing.
