Thank you, Randy, for informing us of the existence of these recordings.
The pastor mentioned an article by Dyson Hague in the Fundamentals as
advocating the six-24-hour-day interpretation. I looked up his article in
the Fundamentals on the doctrinal value of the first chapter of Genesis to
see whether this was indeed the case. I found it to be very much
anti-evolution, but his position on the days of Genesis 1 was not so clear
to me. He mentioned that eons of time were part of evolutionary theory. He
also mentioned that men and animals were created the same day without
saying how he understood the word day. However he also claimed that some
geologists saw their science as agreeing with Scripture, and he also said
that the order of creation in Genesis 1 was the same as that determined by
science. Now I don't see why anyone who believed in a six-24-hour-day
creation would care what order science had determined for the order of
the appearance of different life forms since this would presumably have to
be based on the fossil record, and that would require enough time for a
great many creatures to die and be buried in different strata.

It's encouraging to hear the pastor of a leading evangelical church take on Dawkins from the pulpit and extol John Polkinghorne, Kenneth Miller, Francis Collins, and Owen Gingerich. Note also how he handles Dawkins use of the poll of how many NAS members believed in a personal God.
