Welcome David,

I am also in a conservative Baptist church where not many share my theistic evolutionist views.
I'm glad to see you open to both Christian faith and science. I hope you will continue to grow in
both fields and will find the ASA list a good environment for both.

Out of curiosity, what science cirriculum did you use in homeschool?

I'll give you the same two pieces of advice I give any science student with PhD aspirations... 1)
Take statistics, even if not required for your major 2) Get as much research experience you can
as an undergrad. Summer internships (like NIH-sponsored REU programs) are great to have on
your CV. Particularly in your case I'm afraid. Fairly or unfairly, the Bob Jones science program
may not be well-regarded by many graduate programs because of its young earth creationist
stance. Showing you have had a successful research experience at a secular university may
make you a stronger candidate.
