Michael,
You ought to know better. The black mambas and other poisonous reptiles
(sea snakes not included) had their mouths miraculously sealed as they
slithered two by two into their places in the ark. I suspect the area was
refrigerated so they could be kept in a torpid state, but cannot be sure.
The woodworms (teredo ?) were not a problem because they were stymied by
the coating of pitch.
