Also, the evidence indicates that the Biblical account of Noah and the
Mesopotamian account of Gilgamesh have some common roots. It does not tell
us which version is closer to the original, or more accurate (if an
historical incident underlies the common tradition, which obviously cannot
be determined on literary grounds alone) and it certainly does not prove
that Noah is simply an adaptation of the epic of Gilgamesh as we have it.
