Re: Cobb County

After 2 years of lurking on this list, and another year before that with
a gap between, I keep hoping to see some of the Christian character the
ASA scientists claim is inherent in their work and lives. I finally got
up the courage to post, knowing how hatefully you all have treated
anyone who dissents from you in the past, hoping I was misjudging all of
you. Instead all I have seen is a bunch of territorial narcissists who
attack every single persons who ever asks a question or dissents from
groupthink on the list. '

I am beginning to wonder if studying evolution and spending their entire
live insulting and attacking other Christians for their beliefs doesn't
make Christians in science so irrationally abusive they cannot carry on
adult conversations with non-scientists. The lack of Christian
character on this list has astounded me for years. Instead of
conducting a conversation about my ideas or refuting them with logic or
proof, all I have receive is private insulting emails, name calling,
labeling, character assassinations and hate. You would think this were
an atheist list and I the lone Christian bulls-eye. Actually atheists
have shown much more compassion nd willingness to learn from others and
have real conversations than anyone I have seen on this list. A
Christian list, hardly.

Ideas have consequences. And if the idea of evolution creates such hate
and abuse as I have seen on this list, then maybe I should seriously
rethink my support for it. As for this list, I am shaking the dust off
my feet since I find nothing of Christ in your hate filled rhetoric,
name calling, and character assassination. For scientists who claim to
be objective you all sure seem driven by the basest of emotions in
conversation with others. I have three children of my own, I no longer
feel the need to interact with people who have locked themselves away in
a lab somewhere and haven't advanced past third grade social skills.

At least the YEC'ers act like Christians when interacting with others.
I can't say the same for you. If a nonchristian were to read your posts
on this list, they would see no reason to follow Christ instead of
Sagan. As one who has great respect for the achievements, that saddens
me to know in. I post to discuss specific details and all of you
mis-characterize me, call me names, slander my profession and abuse my
character. I wonder how you treat those who challenge your core beliefs?

I will pray that someday you will realize that God says that we are
known by our love, not or rigid adherence to scientific cabals that
cause us to be abusive and hateful to others. I am ashamed that this
list represents the best minds Christianity has to offer since it seems
the ignorant masses are much better at treating others.

You woudl think I was a neo-nazi on a Jewish email list from the
responses I have been getting off-list. What a shame.
