Jack,
These are related to questions which I have raised. Dick seems to think
that Adam's guilt was transferred to all human beings, whether his
descendants or not. I contend that, if the Fall is so transmitted, then
redemption must be equally transmitted and we have radical universalism.
It is possible, on Dick's view, that only those post-Adam "inherited" his
sin. This would seem to require that only those post-Resurrection receive
redemption. But this means that Abraham, though noted in Hebrews 11, must
not be redeemed and agnostic Ed will be. Of course, Fall and Resurrection
may be totally retroactive. Then the question arises about how far back
sin and redemption reach--to /Homo sapiens/ only; to /H. erectus/ or /H.
ergaster/; to australopithecines or all anthropoids? Since there were
thorns before 10,000 B.C., perhaps the effect of the Fall extended back
to the earliest creation, so even microbes will be redeemed. Will there
then be flu in heaven? Seems to me Dick opens up a can of adders.
