    Chuck,

    Thanks for your response.

    You closed with

"...I have neither the time nor the inclination to pursue this (the
numerics of Genesis 1:1). Maybe on the other side of the great divide
it will all become crystal clear."

I will raise just two points:

    (1) I am naturally disappointed that you decline the challenge of "The
Other Bible Code". You realise, of course, that it is specified by the
riddle posed by the Lord (Rv.13:18) - which every Christian is required
to wrestle with (Rv.22:19) - _wisdom_ being the ultimate prize.

In my experience, most Christians have a preconceived notion of how God
should behave; such are in danger of becoming unteachable. I trust you
are not in this category, because to reject the remarkable self-evident
numerical features of Genesis 1:1 simply because 'God would never do
such a thing', would be presumptuous, and a folly!

    (2) I have been pondering the miracle to which you drew my attention in
your 27 May posting, in particular the Lord's words (spoken by 'father
Abraham'), "they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not
be convinced even if someone rises from the dead."

As I have already pointed out, these words ratify the writings of Moses
and the Prophets as reliable sources of information. I therefore find it
significant that he did not add "...as mediated by the opinions of
clever men." Clearly, the Lord Jesus Christ was a YEC! - which should,
of course, pose something of a dilemma for Christians of other
persuasions. However, as far as I am aware, rather than displaying some
embarrassment in respect of Lk.16:29, the latter simply turn a deaf ear
to these words - and carry on regardless!

Is it reasonable to believe that one can claim allegiance to the Lord
and, at the same time, deny the truth of what he says?! Of course, this
is not an isolated example of the wilful disobedience and apostasy that
is so prevalent today. Many seem to have the idea that he is a 'soft
touch' - ever willing to indulge our imaginings. But how does that
attitude square with the truth of the Incarnation, and with Calvary and
    the Cross?

    Shalom!

    Vernon
