"TC"

I planned to ignore this, but on second thought I decided to jump in:

Someone suggested:

> I would like to suggest another acronymic category for the group to use:
> TC, for theologically correct. These would be defined as those who
> steadfastly rail against the Secular University, Methodological Naturalism,
> while conveniently ignoring the philosophical limitations of their own
> epistemology.

I'll pass on that acronym.

"Political Correctness" was such a devastating term because, for anyone
who was familiar with the situation on campuses, it instantly pointed out
the hypocrisy and vituperativeness of a particular movement. Its
effectiveness lay in the fact that the term was assumed to be an oxymoron
--- particularly in the philosophy, but paradoxically NOT the practice, of
its intended targets. Satire and finely measured ridicule were the most
effective and, perhaps, most appropriate tools for quickly restoring some
semblance of diaglog and truth-searching.

The same cannot be said for "TC." There may be hypocrisy amongst some who
do not subject their own ideas to the same critiques they use on their
opponents (a very common human failing), and there may be some
vituperativeness, too. But the parallels break down there. The term
"theological correctness" is not considered an oxymoron by any
creationist, YEC, PC, EC, or whatever; rather, it is an idea of utmost
seriousness. Nor do I think that satire and finely measured ridicule are
the most appropriate (or effective) tools in this debate.

I'm sorry if I took this more seriously than it was intended, but I
foresaw another potential yelling match, and I don't like 'em.
