Michael,
A quick afterthought on this. It struck me that Abraham was called out of
Ur of the Chaldees. If I remember rightly, the Babylonians are sometimes
called Chaldeans in the Bible. Was Ur in fact in Babylonia? If so, the 6+1
pattern may not so much have been borrowed but may have become
intrinsic to the Judaistic cuture as well, by virtue of Abraham's origins.
Or have I got some wires crossed somewhere?
