    LUCY RESPONDS:

In my estimation, Mark Noll is an excellent scholar. Check out his
other books, too. In my dealings with professors at seminaries, I find
that Mark Noll is very highly regarded and his works are often assigned
readings (at least at scholarly seminaries). For the most part, he
seems a realist to me with a fine sense about nonsense.
