Below is a post I received from the "Science Research Foundation" of
Turkey. It is of interest in a couple regards, firstly it illustrates the
international reach of the efforts of YECs. The extent to which
anti-evolutionary rhetoric is wedded to religious appologetics is of grave
concern. This seems to be especially prevalent in eastern Europe. At the
end of this letter I copy some lead sentences from the SRF website. Even
here there is the introduction of the phrase "intelligent design." The YECs
are really taking advantage of the terms, arguments and phraseology of the
ID movement.

Dear Sirs,
Today, as you are well aware, the world is in urgent need of peace and
security. The artificially polarized camps in the world of the 20th century
divided the people of even the same nation into identities such as fascist
and communist, and a system which made people kill each other was implanted
all over the world. This system is unlikely to end unless permanent and
definite measures are taken.
For decades, many countries, including ours, have spent millions of dollars
in their struggle against terror and anarchy, however have not achieved
any lasting results. In fact they possibly cannot; because the only solution
to this disorder is to provide the ěcorrect educationî.
As you will be of the same opinion, Darwinist philosophyís ending is
the key point in this respect. Darwinism constitutes the sole basis for
the materialist philosophy that denies Godís existence, creation and
spiritual values, and pays attention only to material account of things.
Darwinism denies that man is a soul-bearing being that God has created,
but holds that man is an advanced animal species. However, animals are
beings lacking wisdom and responsibility. They will not account to their
Creator for any truculence, murder, massacre or selfishness that they
performed in their lives. Darwinist-materialist education generate
non-God-fearing
masses, just like animals, who assume that they will not be held responsible
for what they do, think that they should take their part in the merciless
struggle for existence and that they can be strong only by oppressing
others, and who do not possess spiritual values and notions such as love,
compassion, respect, tenderness or sacrifice. Briefly, Darwinism is a
belief which misguides mankind to the direct opposite of the path that
divine religions such as Islam and Christianity leads, and degenerating
the humanity, leads mankind into darkness, quarrel and war.
Surprisingly, this ideology is being insistently promulgated all around
the world. Today, Darwinism is significantly included in the education
curriculum of most countries, and the theory of evolution is conveyed
to young people as if it is a scientific fact. However, developments
in certain branches of science such as microbiology, anatomy, biochemistry
and paleontology decisively defeated this theory. Still, the claims of
the theory of evolution are being purposefully inculcated by certain
circles in the minds of young people as the sole valid explanation for
the origin of life.
It is not logical that those who impose Darwinism on masses then criticize
the injustice and cruelty in the world. With a view to exemplify; it
would not be wise to ask ěwhy have these scorpions started to be so harmful?î
and try to inactivate all scorpions one by one by using a good chasing
and catching system when they start to sting the people around them,
among whom they were formerly released after being raised in special
scorpion breeding farms by the people themselves. The wise method is
to abolish the scorpion breeding farms before all else.
Thus, by removing the Darwinist-materialist education from the educational
institutions, and by explaining the nullity and menace of these ideologies
with scientific and reasonable evidence, young people will be prevented
from falling into the traps of these ideologies and from growing into
humanity enemies.
Consequently, this letter is to draw your personal and organizational
attention to the invalidation of Darwinism in intellectual and scientific
fields. We have no doubt that you, with your belief in God, conscience
and sincerity, will comprehend the importance of this issue. We can possibly
summarize the points that, we believe, needs to be especially stressed
as follows:
1. The Theory of Evolution has been nullified by scientific evidences
since the end of the 20th century. It is totally wrong to teach the theory
to young people at schools as a definite scientific fact. Scientific
views of scientists who reject Darwinism should also be taught at schools.
To this end, it is of great importance to make motions to have this issue
discussed in the parliament, to come into contact with the relevant ministries
and to lobby actively. We know that President Bush government is sensitive
and prudent in preserving the religious beliefs and spiritual values.
Therefore, measures taken in this respect will absolutely achieve positive
effects.
2. This theory, constituting a so-called scientific basis of various
dangerous ideologies such as communism and fascism, has caused miseries
and sufferings all around the world in the 20th century. The theory,
that generates selfish beings who do not possess any good morals and
who can demonstrate any kind of cruelty for their self-interests, transforms
the society into an arena where ěthe law of the jungleî is adopted. This
dark facet of Darwinism should be explained to as large masses as possible
and people should be alerted. Otherwise, many people may not fully understand
the importance of the collapse of the theory.
3. The illogicality and all the aspects of Darwinism that conflict
with reason, sense and science should be systematically announced to
public. It should be made public, at every opportunity, that the difficult
and pompous sentences that the defenders of this theory, who take the
coincidences as their God, yet cannot come up with an explanation to
the coincidental emergence of a single protein molecule, overload with
Latin words are in fact nothing but a vain demagogy.
4. Contradictions in their belief should be explained to those
who declare that they believe in God, while on the other hand accept
Darwinism. It should be made clear that Darwinism, which takes coincidences
as God, completely conflicts with religion and Creationism.
5. Every deceit displayed in the press as a ěnew evidenceî for
evolution should be deciphered, and the public should be informed of
the realities by means of press or the internet.
Today, there are numerous scientific and academic works, both in the
United States and in Turkey, which dwell upon the nullity of Darwinism.
Yet it is important to enhance the effect of these works and to make
them known by everybody. As we have mentioned above, especially preparing
the educational curriculum in line with this aim will bring lasting and
successful results.
The alliance of sincere and faithful people who desire the good for the
humanity at such a time is of great importance. We strongly believe that
positive measures will be taken in this respect.

In 1998, the Science Research Foundation initiated a strategy of
international and national conferences on the theory of evolution. The
reason of this policy was mostly related with some official plans to
include Darwinism as a scientific fact in the education system. In order to
prevent such a harmful and wrong decision, the Foundation decided to
display how modern science in fact disproves the evolutionary scenario of
origins.
Up to now, three international conferences were held in Istanbul and
Ankara, the Capitol, on the issue of evolution. Thanks to the firm and
sincere support of ICR, outstanding scientists like Drs. Duane Gish, John
Morris, Kenneth Cumming, Carl Fliermans, David Menton, Edward Boudreaux and
Michael Girouard attended these conferences, in addition to some Turkish
scientists. The foundation is aiming to organize new conferences with many
other creation or "intelligent design" scientists from all over the world.
