Frank Schaeffer (born August 3, 1952) is an American author, film director, screenwriter and public speaker. He is the son of the late evangelist Francis Schaeffer. He became a Hollywood film director and author, writing several internationally acclaimed novels depicting life in a strict, fundamentalist household including Portofino, Zermatt, and Saving Grandma.
In 1990 Schaeffer became an Orthodox Christian as a member of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, which he says "embraces paradox and mystery." He converted en masse with many others who had formerly been known as the Evangelical Orthodox Church. He converted in 1992 at a Greek Orthodox Church in Newburyport Mass. Rather than unite these congregations with the ethnically rooted Syrian-Americans, they became part of the Antiochian Evangelical Orthodox Church.

Hi all,
Back when I joined the listserv in '07, I described both my faith and my scientific background as an introduction; in the spirit of keeping that up-to-date, I wanted to let you all know that, after wrapping up some church council duties with my current congregation, I will be leaving my branch of the Lutheran Church (ELCA). I have not made a final determination of where I will ultimately end up, but I am seriously considering joining the Orthodox Christian Church (which I suspect, would make me rather unique on this forum?). Anyway, thoughts and questions are welcome if you'd like, but I do want to respect the faith-science focus of listserv postings :)
In Christ,
Christine
