So then I guess in your mind there are no former Christian theologians who now disown God (including Christ and the Bible),,, is that your understanding? Or if there are such former theologians, you think they know nothing of religion now since they deny the faith? Are you failing to grasp how seriously atheists think that everything supernatural is a farce?

Bernie,
I think it is you who is missing the point about God and Santa: no one who actually understands religion should seriously suggest a close comparison. I'm not surprised that Dawkins does, b/c he doesn't understand religion at all (a fact that doesn't seem to prevent him from writing a great deal about it). However I was nonplussed that Johnson said something similar, since Phil is a serious Christian and has been since the mid-1980s.
Please take a look at the following exchange, to see in context why I was perturbed at Phil Johnson's suggestion.

The review I wrote, to which Phil was responding, is not available online in its original form, but there is a longer, similar version on my web site at http://home.messiah.edu/~tdavis/gaps.htm
