Being able to say how it MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED bears strongly on what
caused it to happen (be it evolutionary change, a fluke universe in
the Many Worlds Interpretation, mind boggling coincidence, or God
intervening).

Perhaps we'd better leave it there, because, as a result of Dennis's
fascinating explanation, through which I have learnt a great deal more
than I did from your contribution, we both agree that it did happen.
