  Today's NYTimes devotes several pages of ScienceTimes to Darwin's birthday. I'd like to call your attention to one essay by Carl Safina.

  I met Carl at the Evangelical-Scientist meeting in Melhana a couple of years ago. I enjoyed working with him and had some good discussions. His perspective in this essay echoes some of the thoughts that have been expressed in this list, notably by George Murphy, I believe, concerning the excessive and often inappropriate use of the term "Darwinism".
