I tried to make clear that my comment was limited to the issue of
"survival of the fittest" and the role of death in evolution.
Certainly, the descent of humans and the other apes from a common
ancestor raises theological questions. There are others questions as
well. However, I do not think that the theological problems are
insurmountable, or that they are different in magnitude from problems
generated by other conceptions of Earth and human history.
