Iain
I am glad you chuckle. If I am wrong please tell me but I thought you were
using the idea of an angelic fall to result in evil in the natural world to
explain suffering before humans.
That has been held by quite a few but I consider it to raise a lot of
questions. It assumes pain is evil, - it is also a good warning device, and
that nothing should ever die unless evil comes into the equation. I question
that assumption.
Further we are then forced to ask - if we think it through - are
pain-inflicting creatures evil - like predators and so to recreate Eden we
should kill them. some actually argue this.
As for myself I accept that suffering and death preceded humans and that
there is no connexion between Genesis 3 and all suffering , but as for the
cause or rationale of suffering before humans I have no answer. I can live
with that.
Michael
PS I notice we discussed this 15 months ago!
