I think when people speak like this they are simply showing their mentality. What he is saying is that if he was a TE, as he understands TE, that is how he would think. To change his mind, one would need to discuss what a TE is and how it differs from his current view.
For example, is it true that a TE is afraid that other "higher" scientists will see him as a superstitious fool for believing in miracles? Why or why not?
