Yeah, NIV fudges with "expanse" while NEB & NRSV have, respectively, "vault" & "dome." NIV is willing to stretch things for the sake of concordism, so the fact that they didn't do that with the Joshua passage suggests that they thought "be silent" ose was too much of a stretch.

  Are these the same translations that fudge on /raqia`/? Additionally, is a still sun one that is dark or one that does not move? That locations are given in the text suggests the latter. The interpretation that the sun gave light and not heat seems more than farfetched.
