Interesting. The same thing happened to me when I was a 2nd year
physics student at Carnegie Tech (circa 1950). My reaction was much
the same, although I recall the prof DID know calculus well -- it was
the apparent mis-application of it that bothered me.

I think I aced the course though! <G>
