I thought this might be interesting for many here. [Forgive me if it has
already surfaced in our ASA list.]
On May 7th , a "Declaration of Evangelical Identity and Public Commitment"
19 page document was released at the National Press Club in DC with 70
charger signers including Leith Anderson, Mark Bailer (Dallas Theological
Seminary), Leighton Ford, Rich Karlgaard (Forbes publisher), Max Lucado, and
others.
Here is the site: http://www.anevangelicalmanifesto.com/
It reportedly states that liberal and fundamental Christianity are
"extremes", with liberal Christianity reaching a point today of being
"unfaithful to Christ" due to accommodation. Fundamentalist Christianity is
also purported to be unfaithful with its tendency to resist the world in
certain ways.
I am curious what this is all about. Shall I guess it is an effort to
separate from certain high-profile and controversial ministers.
