Yes, I would encourage all ASA members to mention ASA as appropriate. I like
to think of ASA membership as a network of Christians in science. Taking a
public stand as scientist with Christian faith. Letting people know about it
is very important.
The most effective recruiting tool we've had in years was the comment
Francis Collins made about ASA in his book The Language of God. We continue
to regularly receive new member applications from people who learned about
us through his book. The "word of mouth" approach is the best advertising we
can get.
Even the letter to the editor I got published in Christianity Today in the
January 2008 issue elicited a phone call from someone asking for an
application form.
You set a great example!
