The headline is a bit misleading (thouhg the actual text of this does
not actually say that commercially significant amounts are being made
and has some hints that the amount is actually quite small). If you
actually read

you find that the volume produced is quite small. This won't provide
enough hydrocarbons to be a useful fuel source nor a significant
player in short-term global warming.
