Re: [asa] Testimonies and Professions of Faith

In addition to some central ones already mentioned (e.g. Christ and His
revelation to us), I find sustenance in the Bible and its stories both
maddening, mystifying, encouraging, illuminating... like no other
collection of works. I also lean quite a bit on the faith of my
forbears -- especially my parents, one of whom is still living. Some of
these people, like my parents, did not delve into the intellectual
things quite so much perhaps as I have, and yet I look up to them as
role models. And others who have delved to much deeper intellectual
depths (for me this includes ones as recent as C.S. Lewis or as ancient
as St. Augustine) are also a vast encouragement to me -- especially when
I see how their faith literally drove their lives (eventually). The
cloud of witnesses is, for me, one of the strongest compulsions to look
where they looked, and know He whom they have known.
