I'll give you two of my own. That is to say there appear to be
mechanisms at work that have been discovered that Darwin didn't know
about. Environmental factors do appear to come in to play in affecting
change. Darwin saw only random non-causal changes which are selected on
by nature. Next, Darwin believed that evolution was a gradual process
with changes accumulating over time. Punctuated Equilibrium models see
stasis within well-adapted species lasting for a long period of time
such as millions of years, but due to a necessity, perhaps, rapid change
may occur in a short period of time. I use for example the alligator
which is well-adapted for doing what alligators do and has remained in
its present configuration for millions of years whereas man had to climb
down out of the trees to forage for food becoming bipedal in the
process.
