Welcome aboard, David!
I joined the ASA in my early 20s, and have never regretted it. Like you, I
thought for myself rather than following any specific church or school. You
will find a considerable range of views within the ASA and also on this
listserve, which is not limited to ASA members and is less representative of
the organization as a whole than our journal is. Around the time I joined,
I was strongly influenced by Bernard Ramm's book, "The Christian View of
Science and Scripture," and by Richard Bube's book, "The Human Quest." They
are both out of print, but undoubtedly available at abebooks.com or some
other site. They are dated, but still useful IMO. An excellent recent
overview is Denis Alexander, "Rebuilding the Matrix."
It's far too early to be suggesting grad schools, but by all means ask
about that in a few years.
Blessings,
Ted Davis
