When the ICR or AiG repeats long ago debunked anti
evolutionary diatribes, who is embarrassed? When
certain fundamentalists say off-the-wall things
who takes the blame? Read it on any skeptic list,
we are: you, me, ASA, God --- many people who have
nothing to do with the matter and sharing an agreement
of zilch. When any one of us sins, what do people say?
Do they say, oh, that guy over there is a _______.
No, they say _all_ Christians are _______.
I grant that
individual responsibility is an important development,
but in fact, if the measuring stick of judgment is
applied on us Christians in this way, it is rather
sobering to realize that what we say and do reflects
on our brothers and sisters and on the message we
preach. Like it or not, we do bear the scorn of folly
for the deeds done by ourselves and our brothers and
sisters in Christ.

I see,
therefore, stealing a penny from the store's cash box isn't
doing anything really bad either. What can you buy with a
penny anyhow? And it will most certainly stop there,
won't it?
Actually, the example Iain gave of the finger epitomizes
the truth in the story of the Garden of Eden. That is
exactly what all of us have inside of ourselves. It is
because Christ ignores our blatant rebellion and reaches
out to us anyway that we can even have this conversation
at all. The Garden of Eden hardly has to be
something that happened exactly some 6000 years ago with
a precise location on a map. That struggle is right there every
day in our very own hearts.
by Grace we proceed,
