There is a difference: the unreasonable (and to an extent,
unthinking) far left of this issue is the one calling for drastic
emissions controls and reductions. That just isn't realistic or
feasible. But Katrina illustrated, clearly, how vulnerable the
national economy is to a threat to the oil supply system, so in the
interests of national security and economic strength, changing the
energy production profile seems logical and prudent. Environmental
benefits will accrue from following that course. As new energy
sources and new technologies are demonstrated to be useful,
profitable (hopefully) and integrable into the fabric of daily lives,
