You might want to check out the current issue of WIRED magazine. The
cover article is about "The New Atheists" who emphatically and
enthusiastically* reject any connection with any type of religious
ideas.
To which I reply: While at the same time they emphatically and
enthusiastically embrace the religion of science. Dawkins has been using
that term lately, but it's not original to him at all. "The Religion of
Science" has been the title of several books in the US, starting as early as
1860 and meaning somewhat different things to different people. Overall,
however, it means that science functions effectively as the basis for a new
religion.
