They do seem more like aesthetic arguments, however,
perhaps you're right. I suspect we have all been captivated
by science and feel we have to make appeals with it. It
just has so much pizzazz and drama that it is hard to notice
the gewgaw and the props. I've certainly invested a lot into
understanding science, thinking it might answer my questions.

Finally, it seems to come down to what you believe in your
heart. Like Iain said, if you believe in God, then the
"watch" before us was "made", yet if not, then the that same
"watch" may just simply have appeared. I sometimes wish that
even a little money would just "appear" that way for me,
but maybe I am more Bayesian than I think.

One thing I found very surprising about St Augustine's
"Confessions" is that he doesn't read Gen 1:1 anything
like we typically try to, yet there is no doubt he is
serious about truth.
