[asa] Grandma's wisdom might be good

Just for another take, sometimes we don't respect enough the wisdom of
the take of the man in the pew. Maybe we need less science specialists
and wisdom of experienced layfolks. I am semiserious. We are a culture
that tend to discount the nonexpert and yet our experts outside their
narrow fields (except of course people on this list) may be as dumb as
the layperson.

My paleo students with a solid semester of paleobotany and invertebrate
paleontology will know more than most University prof's, whose theory of
origins in theory depends on the fossil record.

And just to let them know that I still sometimes listen to the ASA I
will blind copy this to my students in paleo (and Gerry Mouw who is in
computer services) and invite them to look at any exchanges on the
archive and even encourage some of them to respond (they probably
won't). Paleo class the url to see if we get a response is:

Terry did you remove the link to this list from the main page?
