Vernon has had any number of witnesses on this list bend over backwards to
show him solid data and evidence. As Paul said, it's time to "shake the
dust" and move on. There are lots of people out there who are receptive to
better solutions than YEC can offer. I agree they need to be approached
with loving kindness. BTW, I've had over 50 years of experience in sales
and sales management. Tommy Hopkins, Joe Stumpf, Zig and all the rest are
contemporaries.

The YEC hierarchy is unapproachable. Years ago I sat down one on one with
Larry Vardiman who ran the physics department for ICR. I showed him
irrefutable evidence from observations of Supernova 1987 that the explosion
occurred 169,000 years ago in the Magellanic Cloud, a nearby galaxy. By
extrapolation you can get a rough date for the universe. Did he listen?
Did he do what I suggest all YECs do: reflect, recant, renounce and repent?
No, he wrote the R.A.T.E manual.

I did take time off from selling things to fly 164 combat missions in Viet
Nam. Just as in combat, there are strategic objectives and tactical
objectives in the campaign to put an end to YEC and replace it with
something that is scripturally sound and scientifically respectable. Their
falsehoods must be exposed. You can't respond with silence and let them
trample on science and Scripture in their misguided ministry. We lose
people. People exposed to YEC go to hell comfortable in the notion that the
Bible is a bunch of hogwash. If we don't stand up and defend the integrity
of Scripture who will? Certainly the YECs aren't doing it. Truth is the
first casualty in their war on science.
