That's why I tried to get Vernon to read the Francis Collins talk, which is
written with considerably more inspiration and grace that I hear coming from
the emails of certain people I could mention ...

However, it appears Vernon has just slammed this door back in our face & I'm
not sure there's anything else to be done other than let the matter drop.

BTW Dick:

Just looked up Jim Jones and the Kool Aid incident that Dick referred to. I
thought we were talking about YEC's not a lunatic who believed he was
simultaneously an incarnation of Christ and Lenin. Perhaps Dick sees YEC
leaders as being as deranged as that? I beg to differ, though I have seen
exampes of where they have behaved quite atrociously, though I doubt if any
has gone as far as to spike peoples' drinks with cyanide, or indeed if Ken
Ham, for all his false teachings, believes he is the reincarnation of
Christ. Sorry, Dick I don't buy your straw man. YEC might have some
attributes of a cult, but then I'm sure Richard Dawkins would say the whole
of Christianity is a cult based on lies. One has to draw the line
somewhere, and citing an extreme example of lunacy and genocide to justify
yelling your mouth off seems to be a fundamentally dishonest way of
conducting an argument.

That's enough protesting for the moment.
