Thanks to all who responded to my request. I've gotten a lot of suggestions, on & off list, & will try to see what works best for me.
For the curious: I have in mind a fun book for physicists setting out a lot of things which are in theory "well known" but which in fact aren't that well known to people in the field. Nothing (or very little) original but it would be instructive for students and, I think, fun. I'll let you know if & when it comes to birth.
A teaser: How many know "The paradox of the Chinese laundry"?
