What would happen if we didn't have a moon. I heard on Discovery that it
stabilizes the orbit. And what would happen if the earth rotated at a
different speed - other than changing the lengths of the days? Would it
destabilize anything?

Ted replies:
Debbie, I recommend that you pick up a copy of "The Privileged Planet," by
Guillermo Gonzalez and Jay Richards. Not the DVD version, which is slick
and dumbs things down, but the book itself. The detailed index will get you
where you need to go easily, on this and many other interesting points.
Planetary science has advanced tremendously in the past generation, and the
book is a very nice introduction to the topic in a theologically friendly
manner.
