Read "Rare Earth" by Peter Ward and Don Brownlee, or "The privileged planet" by
Guillermo Gonzalez and Jay Richards. Both books make the point that our large
moon stabilizes the inclination of earth's axis, thereby stabilizing earth's
climte and seasons. Both books speculate that having a large moon is a
prerequisite for complex life to exist on a planet.
