MessageI came in in the middle of this discussion - but, what about the
parable of the talents?

Luke 19:26
"He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but
as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away.

Give and it shall be given unto you - sounds like capitalism to me - do what
I want and I'll pay you for it. (That's certainly a crass way to put it -
but rewards are a heavy duty theme in the Bible.)

Seek ye first the kingdom of God .. and all these things will be added unto
you.

Rewards, rewards, rewards - capitalism, not socialism.

Sure, Jesus told the rich man to give away all he had and said it is
difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven - the love of money
is the root of all evil, not money. God first and then money isn't a bad
thing. Give some away, if you want to keep your blessings.

Abraham, David, Job - twice, Jacob and the flock - the Bible is full of
financial rewards for being good. Ruth got to marry the rich man - better
than Cinderella, she was rewarded for loyalty to Naomi and God.

first socialist.

Actually he (probably) wasn't. If ancient traditional tribal groups on
earth today are any indication a form of socialism has existed since time
immemorial.
