This is fascinating--that TDI is actually distancing itself from the YEC
ideas in a local controversy of this type, in such a highly visible way. I
have my suspicions that this is a direct result of the Dover trial, which
might have the effect of forcing their hand more openly in such cases. If
they had been doing this 10 years ago, if they had refused to be part of the
Pandas and People thing, then IMO they would not have gone down in
Harrisburg last month.

A question for Keith Miller: What do *you* think, Keith? Is this really
quite different from what has been the case in Kansas? I would say yes, but
you're so much closer to that situation. Here in PA, they first quiety went
to people in Dover and tried to dissuade them of adopting the policy they
adopted, for various reasons; but they didn't make the public directly aware
of their difference from the YEC position in such a highly visible way, not
that I can recall.
