They're united, we're divided. They're committed, we're wishy-washy.
They feel confident they can refute theistic evolution (for the most
part, that's us), we tolerate YEC. They stand for something, we don't.

In essence, we (the leadership) have adopted peaceful coexistence.
History should remind us this is a defeatist position. Reagan rallied
us under the banner of anti-communism. By taking a defiant stance
against the regime of the USSR over time it was defeated.

As I see it, we have two identifiable opponents, atheism in the guise of
science and young-earth creationism. The more we can identify ourselves
as astute opponents to what is demonstrably wrong - whether they call
themselves Christian or not - the sooner we will earn respect as an
organization committed to what we say we stand for.

And then God may bless us and cause us to flourish. Until then ...

Subject: ICR'S Acts & facts -- Jan 2006

Acts and Facts, Jan 2006

Summary:

The cover letter by John Morris strangely omits the ICR academic board.
He quotes Eugenie Scott; "I've become an evolution evangelist." John
writes, "Earlier she described herself as a 'philosophical materialist,"
in other words, an atheist . . . her goal is to convert others to her
religion. She seldom admits her religious bias, hiding behind the bogus
'separation of church and state'"

John continues to confuse "evolution" with "evolutionism," and is quick
to judge others. In this regard, I refer readers to my review of Scott's
latest book on the subject, published in PERSPECTIVES last year and
available on my web site at www.burgy.50megscom/scott.htm.

The "Back to Genesis" tract has an article by Henry Morris on the
uselessness of Scofield's "Gap Theory." Henry says that the word
"replenish" in Genesis 1:28 is mistranslated, and is one of the few
places in the KJV where the committee erred.

John Morris writes on the sign of the rainbow. "Calculations show that
the ocean's heat would have taken at least 600 years or so to dissipate,
and that during this period the "Ice Age" dominated.

IMPACT #391, by Dan Criswell, is title "What Makes Us Human?" Three
things, he argues: (1) Our position as servants. (2) Our value to God
(3)
Our need for salvation. His exposition on the first of these is terribly
flawed; he should read "When Elephants Weep," a recent book on altruism
in animals. I reviewed this book for PERSPECTIVES; a copy is on the ASA
web site or at www.burgy.50megs.com/weep.htm.

The lead tract this month recaps 2005 for ICR and the YEC movement. RATE
is a success; GENOME FAST and CLIMATE, three new projects are underway.
The ICR graduate school has expanded. Some statistics which should worry
us all:

1. RATE was presented to 2,300 on Nov 5th; to 2,500 pastors at
"Shepherd's Conference" (date not cited). 1,000 at a meeting near Mount
St. helens. and in another 250 venues. All this in just the last two
months of 2005!

2. The ICR website has had over 3,000,000 visitors.

3. 411 radio stations now carry the ICR 15 minute presentation weekly.

4. Almost 1,000 non-English stations do a Spanish version.

5. The ICR museum expanded.

6. Acts and Facts now reaches 130,000 households. An electronic version
is now available.

7. ICR's finances are on track. No debt. No endowments.

8. 600 sailors at a US naval base got to hear Frank Sherwin's creation
message Oct 27-30 in Yokosuka, Japan. .

An article on fruit flies by Frank Sherwin finishes it off. The
inability of scientists to create some other creature from the 30,000
mutations produced since 1910 is cited as evidence against evolution.

I cannot help but compare the statistics above to those of ASA.
Remember,
this is ONE of several YEC organizations. Overall, they are 100 times
our
influence.

PS: There is what looks like a very effective refutation of ICR's RATE
project at

http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/c14.html

Like most science, what the essay suggests is that while the puzzle
cannot yet be considered solved, there are several naturalistic
explanations which appear highly possible for the phenomenon. To claim
"goddidit" as ICR does, without any mention of these other
possibilities, is, IMHO, misleading, unprofessional and unChristian.
