David writes of sexual selection as if it were not subsumed under natural
selection. I would have agreed with David's implicit separation of those
two forces, except that when I submitted my article on the 1920s to American
Scientist, one of their scientific editors told me to change some of my
wording, wording that treated sexual selection as a separate force from
natural selection--it's an aspect of natural selection, not a separate
factor, is what their in house "expert" told me. Not being a biologist, I
simply accepted this point and made the change.

What is the actual situation? Does NS embrace sexual selection as a
subset, as it were?
