Like the 14C paper recently discussed on the list, this one sufferes
from the delusion that a single problem for the conventional view
justifies throwing it out entirely, whereas numerous problems for the
YEC or ID view have no bearing on their merits. In particular, Wells
claims that "the existence of even one intelligently designed feature
in living things (at least prior to human beings) would overturn the
Darwinian theory of evolution that currently dominates Western
biology."
Even if one allows the misuse of Darwinian theory of evolution to
apply to a philosophical materialism, the intelligent aliens invoked
by ID advocates could have evolved naturalistically.
